What Poetry may represent in a modern society: the protagonist of “Lips and tits of Silicon”?!
If the role of Poetry is to represent the human values and the Poet wouldn’t stain his hands and mouth with partaking at the Fashion shows, brainwashing TV debates talking about that anomalies and absurdities that mark our epoch, then neither “the Silicon tits” shouldn’t be the analytical and debatable topics in plenitude of web pages and portals, in journals and magazines which survive with the deeds of VIP, in a society which has forgotten the meaning of the reading books, distinction between value and anti-values, the silicon from natural etc.
For those who write, the Poetry is the condolence of the soul, the art of living, the extreme synthesis of words.
Poetry is the Amalgam of individual pain, the mirror of human history. This Magic ART is humiliated by kitsch, schunde and the novices of scientific technologies, which frequently are antagonizing the nature of diverse phenomenon of our being.
Undoubtedly the phenomenon as these, when the silicon becomes more important factor than every other value of society, they harshly attack the Poet and the Poetry.
How poetry may not submit to the trends of epoch in which we are going through and preserve is quintessential values. To be red, valued and criticized?!
The first task is reading, for what it has been written many times. Where are the readers, the admirers of the privileged art, ignorant or anti-poet writers, and linguists, the admirers of figures, phonemes, full stops and artistic punctuating marks?
The first category is the little army of reader. Poetry is difficult to understand, feel and interpret. It may be treated as multidimensional to be percept and felt based on individual gusto.
The second category is of writers, those who align the letters in a white paper a time ago, and nowadays in computer monitor. They read their poetry; read even those others write. They read and are red.
Therefore, in the context of modern tendencies, regardless of the reading level in a society I fear that the value of Poetry might become the object of opposites, fades and question marks. To be eliminated from cultural and medial discourses etc.
Despite the risks, her value remains indispensable, because it is “the hard nutshell of brain” in a cosmologic sense of human.
Tendencies as these of silicon lips, tits, these transitional events, good and bad, I’m convinced shall overpass. The living material, synthetic, esthetic and artistic remnants of the art of poetry are alive. The prints of the Poets presence in the Universe we live in.
The consistence of poetical values are not dependable on a passing manifestations, neither on tendencies of the society that values only of the outer image, apparel, artificial, inconsistence etc.
Poetry isn’t a momentary product that may merchandise and sell depending on the Market tendencies. Depending on the trend’s demands for “stuffed lips”, “silicon tits”, botox and lifting to hide the prints of age, hair colors to hide the grays etc.
It may fall prey of these “demands of the time”, since frequently is manipulated, bloat and vents, used and misused depends on needs of authors and readers. Akin to silicon usage in plastic surgery the similar kind of chirurgic of words is utilized in Poetry too.
Depends on who is doing the surgery, he does the figurative cuts, metaphor and other stylistic utilities of poetical language chirurgic. The difference between these two sorts of chirurgic remains on marketing. At the plastic surgery the silicon is top hit, the models, singers with “stuffed lips and silicon tits”, take thousands of clicks, they fill the pages of magazines with uncovered tits and buts. Poetry belongs to Esthetics, sure not chirurgic one, but it never succeed to the desirable level of marketing; despite that we ought to say that social networks had had pretty influenced the distribution of literary art in general.
Except the Few of poets and reader, nobody values the surgery of the word. This kind of art does not bring popularity to mass Media, Internet, Social Networks, as much as the clicks of some VIP with the stuffed lips and elevated tits brings.
This is fairly natural and understandable, since the nature of poetry is hardly to be percept, distributed, interpreted. The Poetry is not an infective disease as silicon. Although even if it’s a need to intervene in every manner to increase its value and popularity, I do consider that it is in vain, since nobody is incapable to understand, decipher, but it stands in the nature of the Poetry to be opposite to every form of communication, because the Poetry is in itself the communication, the world in itself.
The Poets must make the poetry interesting in order to bring it to the focal point. To last, somebody wrote that Dante even achieved to make Inferno interesting. Therefore the silicon too is a challenge to the Poetry as every other thing in the consuming society.
Elias Canetti wrote that if the Poetry shall serve for anything then it should be able to even stop the war.
